Chemical Resistant Solid Phenolic Compact (SPC) is one of the most durable decorative surface materials available. SPC is composed of a combination of electron beam cured decorative sheets and multiple layers of kraft paper saturated with phenolic resin that are fused together using heat and pressure of over 1,000 psi. The curing process transforms the resin into plastic by a cross-linking process that converts the layers into a solid structure. Thermosetting creates strong, irreversible bonds that contribute to SPC’s durability. In addition, the balanced construction of SPC increases its stability.
